Lead grows for Lunsford, Clinton in latest SurveyUSA poll

SurveyUSA's latest polls find Louisville businessman Bruce Lunsford and New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton with growing leads atop their respective races. Lunsford's lead in the seven-candidate Democratic Senate primary field grew 5 percent since the last poll by SurveyUSA. That poll gave Lunsford 42 percent support among 572 "likely" Democratic voters.

$7.7 million on hand for McConnell

Senator Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign will report $7,741,241 on hand at the end of the first fundraising quarter of 2008, a release announced today. This election cycle, the McConnell campaign has raised $12,199,516, as of the March 31 1Q deadline. The campaign says this figure is a "Kentucky record."

Included in that figure are 1Q receipts totaling $1,315,967 in contributions to the four-term incumbent.  read more »

Update: Lunsford triggers millionaire's amendment, claims $900k in pledges

A spokesperson from the campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford confirmed this afternoon that Lunsford contributed an amount to his own campaign sufficient enough to trigger the "millionaire's amendment" in the first fundraising quarter.

Fischer's first ad to run this weekend

The campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Greg Fischer will hit television airwaves in Kentucky on Saturday, with the candidate's first ad-buy of the race.

Fischer's first advertisement is entitled "The Promise." The ad is available for viewing here.

A statement from the campaign noted it was filmed in the facilities of Dant Clayton Corporation and MedVenture Technologies, two companies owned by Fischer.

Lunsford calls out McConnell in second ad

Kentucky's airwaves continue to be bombarded with advertisements in the U.S. Senate race, as Bruce Lunsford launched a second commercial today in his bid to unseat incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell. This ad - entitled "Real World" - represents an escalation for Lunsford's campaign, as he explicitly references McConnell and his Senate career during the 30-second ad, unlike in his previous productions. In "Real World," Lunsford briefly discusses his history as a tobacco farmer, businessman, and member of the National Guard before mentioning McConnell.
