U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford: Politicker PhotoDemocratic U.S. Senate nominee Bruce Lunsford will release his energy plan at a press conference tomorrow in Louisville.
The plan, entitled "Do More, Talk Less: Bruce Lunsford's 8 Point Plan for Energy Independence," will be unveiled at a local Louisville UAW headquarters at 3pm.
Lunsford has been embroiled in a fight over energy policy with his opponent, U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Louisville), since the start of the general election campaign.
McConnell has criticized Lunsford for not supporting expanded domestic drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the outer continental shelf while also launching a television ad accusing the Democrat of being partially responsible for Kentucky's gas tax structure.
Lunsford, meanwhile, has spoken of reducing American "addiction" to oil, and targeted McConnell as a close ally of oil companies.
Among Lunsford's earlier energy proposals was support for a gas tax holiday for immediate relief from rising fuel prices.
Lunsford also supported the now-failed attempts in Congress to pass "use it or lose it" legislation that would force oil companies to drill on domestic lands upon which they held leases, but were not currently exploring.
