Changes in Fischer camp

The campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Greg Fischer has again made some staff changes.

Nicole Candler, who was working as a spokesperson for the campaign, has left to work for the Presidential campaign of Senator Hillary Clinton (D-New York). Candler joined the campaign in mid-March amid earlier changes in the Fischer camp, and left late last week.

Ken Shapero has assumed the role of Communications Director for the campaign, having been in that position for two weeks.

Shapero comes from a public relations and journalism background. He worked as a reporter at the Louisville Courier-Journal for seven years before moving to the public relations department at shipping-giant UPS. He left that position in 2003 and opened The Jazz Factory in downtown Louisville, a now defunct music venue and night club.

That venue closed earlier this year. Shapero says he joined the Fischer campaign late last month expecting the work to be a "two-week job," but he is now encouraged by progress Fischer is making in the polls and with voters.

"I Think more and more we could go to November and beyond," said Shapero.
