While the two principal candidates in the Democratic Senate primary field continue jabbing at each other off-screen, each campaign's new entry in the Senate race television ad war is largely a self-focused affair.
Bruce Lunsford's latest effort is entitled "Support," and it highlights the endorsements the frontrunning candidate has collected. The ad avoids specifics, but instead lists segments of the Kentucky population with representatives endorsing Lunsford, including "steelworkers and mineworkers, teachers and hospital workers, iraq war vets and Democratic leaders."
Lunsford has received endorsements from - among others - the Kentucky AFL-CIO, the Kentucky chapter of Change to Win, the Indiana Kentucky Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights, and Iraq war veteran and former Senate candidate Colonel Andrew Horne.
Lunsford's ad also highlights a series of the candidate's issue positions while names of his prominent supporters are displayed in the background.
The newest 30-second spot from Louisville businessman Greg Fischer features a shot of the candidate watching images of his family and footage of workers from earlier Fischer commercials. A video of Fischer speaking about his family is also displayed.
Speaking of lesson's from his family, Fischer says "My mom's was: if you can help somebody, you help them. Don't ask what's in it for you."
Also included is a brief display of the term "True Democrat" - likely a reference to Fischer's earlier attacks on Lunsford for that candidate's past financial and political support of Republicans.
