The Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO) - one of the city's two leading alternative weekly publications - announced its support of the campaign of Illinois Senator Barack Obama in its most recent edition.
"[Obama] seems like a transformative alternative at a time when only transformation will do. Barack Obama may well turn out to be an historically important leader," read the endorsing editorial. "Times have changed. No longer can the United States bend the rest of the world to its will through sheer size and force. We need someone who can navigate these complexities and inspire our country back onto a higher plane. We think Barack Obama is the right choice on May 20."
The publication also offered "another take," providing space to an editorial praising the campaign of Obama's opponent in the Democratic Primary, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-New York).
"I think it’d only be fitting for a Clinton to once again clean up the mess of a Bush. And I think Hillary has great ideas for solving some of our country’s major problems, especially healthcare. This race isn’t over. I’m playing my violin till the end. The beat goes on," wrote Sara Havens in her opposing viewpoint.
Kentucky will hold its Democratic primary election on May 20. In the last public poll released, Clinton was shown 27 points ahead of Obama in the Commonwealth.
I’m off through July 23 for some much needed rest and relaxation. I'll be heading up to Niagara Falls and Buffalo, and then down to wine ... >
